At
the age of 11, when I "borrowed" my grandfather's Voigtlander
and began capturing images, I quickly became an avid photographer. By the age of 15, my attention
shifted to 'seeing' in abstract ways. Although I
always maintained a relationship with a camera to illuminate what I
imaged - my
focus was quickly riveted on learning how to see the world clearly through a more
philosophical/psychological set of lenses. Sensory images provided needed
grounding.
Academically,
I earned my B.A. in
Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and my M.A. in
Psychology from California State University at Long Beach. I was awarded a
doctorate in Institutional Management from Pepperdine University at
Malibu, California.
Professionally,
I have had an Organizational Development
consulting company which helped organizations in the areas of:
Leadership Development, Strategic
Planning & Reorganization, Organizational Ethics, Team Building, Cultural
Renewal, Performance Appraisal, Employee Empowerment, Consensus
Decision-Making, Communications Skills, Interpersonal Effectiveness,
Motivation, and Conflict Resolution.
Professorially,
I have taught in graduate and undergraduate programs, including the
subjects of:
Organizational Behavior, Corporate Culture & Climate,
Research Methodology, Interpersonal Communications, Quantitative Analysis,
Business Ethics , Strategic Planning, Comparative Religions, Critical
Thinking, and Human Relations,
as well as supervising graduate thesis work.
In my long standing
private practice as an Educator/Psychologist, I help people develop and integrate their personalities,
integrate their brain's processing, and integrate their personality with their brain's
processing. This leads to learning how to 'see' clearly in an integrated
concrete/conceptual manner. The result is the transformation of one's brain/personality
fragments into an integrated human experience - a realty-based expanded experience
of Self. I am working on a book that illustrates what I see will be the
next growth phase in conscious human evolution - Third Order Intelligence.

My discoveries
in the abstract realm bring a clearer focus
and more substantial presence to my work in photography. My approach to
photographing is rooted in appreciating what I see in a Zen-like no-mind
fashion. The images call out to me through my feelings - directing me in
how they want to be seen. I feel I am successful when the resulting
photo later triggers that same emotion in my body. I am delighted when I
hear feedback that the image triggers a similar emotional experience in
someone else.
